The friendly community of almost 10,000 inhabitants features three covered rinks (you read that right), with large windows on each side that provide a spectacular view of the ski slopes and ski jumps. The modern structures are made predominantly of wood and are very well equipped with large dressing rooms and a cozy restaurant with a very friendly owner where players can enjoy a cold one, or two, after the game.
A couple of years ago, we were scheduled to play a friendly game hosted by a bantam team made of players from neighboring Sonthofen and Obertsdorf and it turned out to be a wonderful experience both on and off the ice, as the locals had organized a dinner up in the mountains in a small restaurant overlooking the village for their Canadian visitors. Friendships that are still ongoing were made that night. To this day, our experience in that lovely Bavarian village remains a highlight that none of the participants will ever forget.
