Rinks in Europe, Episode 1

Rinks in Europe: Hallo Du Fun Park, Germany

Located in the south-west of Bavaria, a slap shot away from the lovely village of Ebbs and, just a few kilometers from neighboring Austria, this is the rink the Aschau Rangers call home. The Olympic size rink is where the Rangers play their games and enjoy a few beers after their matches, as they always do when they host Old Timers teams from Canada for some friendly games. Location, location, location!!!! Well, you can’t get much better than this, near a typical Bavarian village, at the footsteps of the mountains, the view is such that when on the bench players have a tendency to look at the spectacular surroundings rather then watch the play on the ice!

The rink is open year round. Once the ice hockey season is over, the Rangers trade their blades for wheels to play inline hockey and even street hockey. Hockey is almost a way of life for the Rangers, they like their hockey as much as their beer.

Hallo Du Fun Park is more than just a great rink! It’s an entertainment park that also features water slides and pools in the summer, as well as bowling, beach volleyball and even a spa and a pizzeria.

All Canadian teams that MSAT took to Ebbs for a friendly hockey game just fell in love with the place and were just blown away by the hospitality of our hosts. In the Bavarian tradition, Franz, Peter and Andi are wonderful hosts and the Hallo Du Fun Park is heaven on earth for anyone who loves sports. Overtime here is when the boys gather at a local Gasthaus after the game to enjoy some of the best beers Germany has to offer and a schnitzel with späzle!
